Four France-based players have joined the Flying Fijians in France following their arrival yesterday into Nantes.

Team manager, Talemo Waqa confirmed Sisa Koyamaibola, Wame Lewaravu, Albert Vulivuli and Jone Qovu greeted the team at the airport and joined them at their hotel.

“We were greeted at the airport by our chief liaison officer, Jose Machado. He comes with a wealth of experience with Pacific Island teams as he has previously worked with Tonga, Samoa and the Pacific Islands team in the same role when those teams toured France previously,” Waqa said.

“This year he is looking after the Flying Fijians, A notable trait about Mr. Jose is his knowledge of our Europe Based players and the correct pronunciation of our names,” Waqa said.

“Together with Jose were Sisa, Wame, Albert and Jone Qovu. The team greeted each other with handshakes and hugs and you can just see the bond between them.” He said.

The side had a light pool session this morning with forwards assistant coach, Inoke Male and physio William Koong.

“Team trainer Nacanieli Cawanibuka was kept busy moving water bottles to all players and management to hydrate themselves as advised by the medical and coaching team.”

“The assistant manager Semi Rogoyawa, Cawanibuka, team doctor Emosi Taloga and myself went to check all team training venues so as to map out all plans in training.”

“The team eagerly awaits the arrival of all the rest of the players with only Michael Tagicakibau expected on Monday,” Waqa added.

Fiji’s game against France will kick off at 6am on Sunday morning.
