Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama wished the national netball team success at the World Netball Championships in Singapore next month.
He made the comments when receiving the team’s  iTatau at Government Buildings on behalf of His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau. The President is on tour of the Middle East.
The Fiji netball side leaves our shores later this week.
Commodore Bainimarama acknowledged the hard yards put in by players for the call of the nation. A couple of these players have taken leave from work without pay.

48 teams from around the country will battle for the $30,000 prize money on offer at the Son Kon Po 7’s which kicks starts on Saturday at Ba’s Govind Park.
Big guns like Police of Suva, Hydro, Red Rock, Army Green, Ratu Filise, Saunaka and Gaunavou are amongst the 48 teams taking part in the one day tournament.
Organizer Saimoni Naivalu said that they will have prizes from the elimination stages, as most teams have traveled from far to be in this one day tournament.

The Fiji 7s team is likely to face Australia or Wales in the quarterfinal of the South Africa 7s tournament this weekend.
The Digicel sponsored side which lost to Samoa in the semifinal of the Dubai 7s last weekend will need to beat their arch rivals this time around in pool play to line-up an easier opponent from Pool A.
Australia looks top bet in Pool A while world champions Wales after putting up a gallant show in Dubai look promising and unpredictable.

Four France-based players have joined the Flying Fijians in France following their arrival yesterday into Nantes.
Team manager, Talemo Waqa confirmed Sisa Koyamaibola, Wame Lewaravu, Albert Vulivuli and Jone Qovu greeted the team at the airport and joined them at their hotel.

Port Adelaide stars David Rodan and Alipate Carlile are excited to see the talents that will be on display on Saturday at the AFL Fiji David Rodan Cup.

The Naitasiri Rugby Union has secured a $10,000 sponsorship from FEXCO Pacific for their first 7s tournament to be held at Ratu Cakobau Park in December.
President and former Fiji international, Ratu Ilaitia Tuisese said this was a milestone for NRU as they looked to better run their affiliates.

Fiji IDC: Lautoka through to the final

A winner will be crowned in the 2010 Inter District Championship later this afternoon after reigning champion Navua lost its semifinal encounter 2-1 to Lautoka at the tfl National Stadium this morning.
The match, a repeat of last season’s final which was won by Navua 2-0 in Nadi proved exciting from the first whistle and Lautoka took an early lead through striker Valerio Nawatu.
Navua equalized through Maciu Dunadamu before halftime but star midfielder Alvin Avinesh netted the winner for the Shop and Save Blues midway in the second spell.

Troubled coach, Farouk Janeman has denied rumors of his sacking following Ba’s dismal performance during the 2010 Inter District Championship (IDC) pool games.
Of its four pool games, Ba only managed a win. The Men in Black lost their opening match to Rewa 1-0, drew with 0-0 Suva, won 2-0 over Nasinu before conceding a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lautoka.

Lautoka will feature in the semifinal of the 2010 Inter District Championship in Suva this Sunday without its two Australian imports who flew out of the country today.
Defender Billy Darwich and striker Matthew Mayora whose visa expired this afternoon were allowed to leave as the Lautoka Football Association officials is confident of delivering the good with the duo.

New Zealand beat Australia 24-17 in the final of the Rugby Sevens at Delhi 2010 today. The Kiwis are the first team to win four consecutive Gold medals in a team sport event at the Commonwealth Games. The Australian Men’s Hockey team can also achieve this feat if they beat New Zealand on Thursday in the final.
