To the delight of an impressive crowd at the final session of athletics in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Mandeep Kaur (IND) brought India home to a Gold medal in the Women’s 4 x 400 m Relay.
Roared on by the passionate fans, India led virtually for the whole race with Manjeet Kaur handing over just ahead of England on the first leg, and Sini Jose and Ashwini Akkunji holding the advantage through the second and third legs.

Six of the seven New Zealand based players joined Suva in a friendly match against Wailoku club at Cathedral Grounds on Sunday as part of preparation to the Courts IDC.
The six of three Kiwis and three locals minus Aaron Singh flew into the country on Saturday night.
Singh will arrive into the country on Wednesday.

Savusavu successfully defended the Premier Division National Football League title after beating Tailevu Naitasiri 2-0 in the third leg of the Viti Levu/Vanua Levu playoff  tonight at the tfl National Stadium.
The win however was not an easy one for the northerners as they were taken into extra time by Tailevu Naitasiri who also held the champions to goal-less draws in the previous two matches of the playoff.

Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz will stay in Britain to be interviewed by police over the alleged spot-fixing scandal, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt said on Thursday.

After holding Suva to a 1-1 draw in its opening Battle Of the Giants fixture last weekend, the Nadroga football side is eying an upset win over Lautoka in the first match tomorrow at Prince Charles Park.

Hosts Nadi has shown intent in scooping the 2010 Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants title and put their dismal FACT outing ealier this year behind them.
The hosts who won the first BOG in 1978 have been laced with experience with the inclusion of Solomons based Cummins Menapi and Nicholas Muri.

Lautoka fullback, Taniela Rawaqa has backed Nadroga to retain the Digicel Cup this weekend in their final against Naitasiri.
The Flying Fijians super-boot fullback faced Nadroga last week with his Lautoka side in the semi finals where they lost 45-18.
“They played a desperate game,” Rawaqa said.
“The hits, the tackles, the defence, everything that they came at us with screams of how desperate they were to defend their title.”
Nadroga lost to Naitasiri earlier in the round robin competition.
